lyrics

Wake up
As this house gets darker, it’s harder to sleep
Come down
Under these sheets is where I rest my dreams
Drown it all
I can’t find another way
The night suffocates without the day

A decline we all face and despair
Feel the truths in the air getting harder to find
A mysterious hope that burns to hold
Burns to hold…..

This phone doesn’t ring for me
It rings because you want it too
The truth cuts sharp as a knife
I’m a coward hiding in plain sight
This fear makes me blind

This home wasn’t meant for you
I like it better in solitude
A language changing like a labyrinth
The walls are cold in your absence
But I’ve always hated summer

There’s no space here for you
There’s no space

You smother me, uncovering my soul
A burden so pervasive.
A guilt so abrasive
I don’t have control
yet another pretence to spur or console me

Your Innocence is persuasive
Whispers so invasive
A trap laid in the darkness
Waiting for me to walk right in

Like driving through haze
I can’t see through your cloudy eyes
A game played between friends
We all share the same disguise

There’s a smokescreen between us.
(I created this cloud)

A hummingbird floating in the distance.
(a silent witness)
A mocking bird with out a song….

Protection, We all hide within a shell.
Projection, We all paint our own portraits.
Reflection, We all poke holes in the mirror
Introjection!

I regret treating you that way.
You stood tall, even in that state
I was wrong. But being alone… is all I’ve ever known.

This phone doesn’t ring for me it’s screaming at the two of us
There’s no space for two I’m confined to this solitude
I’ve got open wounds from the fear that consumes me
The cowardice lies steal the whites from my eyes
(There’s no space! There’s no space! There’s no space! Nooooo!)

The walls are closing in on the few of us left
Our spines shift and define the distance kept
What empowers us devours us but we cannot see
The winter forest from the dying trees

But I’ve always hated summer……

about

Nap Wars Gold Coast, Australia

Dubbed as a “personal Post-Hardcore embrace” by Blank Mag GC, the Gold Coast based Australian band has often been noted as reminiscent of Fall of Troy or At The Drive-In.
Named after the wars fought under the leadership of Napoleon Bonaparte in the early 1800’s, the bands namesake reflects its sound of organised chaos accurately.
